Thomas J. Farnan has spent most of his legal career as a litigation attorney.  He has branched out, over his many years of practice, to corporate governance and risk management.  He has entered upon this diversity in his practice because commercial litigation often involves failures in corporate policies, contracts, and matters of corporate governance.  It is a natural evolution for a litigation attorney, then, to provide advice and counsel to those who wish to prevent problems before they happen.

As a business lawyer, Thomas J. Farnan has represented corporate officers in disputes against the entities that employ them; the entities themselves in disputes against the corporate officers; employees in disputes against their employers; and employers defending suits against employees.  His cases have involved employment law, executive benefits, contract law, restrictive covenants, and the intersection of state and federal law in which business disputes tend to germinate.  He has also represented insurance companies in coverage issues; and he has been retained by them to provide a defense to their policy holders.
